Random House "Read, you will!" pin : This item was not available at retail. It was only given to employees of certain bookstores around the time of the release of Episode I in 1999 to promote both the movie and ,well, reading. Because it's not a widely available item, finding one could be tricky. |
Rubie's Episode I Yoda mask : This deluxe pullover mask, made in 1999, depicts the younger Yoda from the prequels, and has a very decent likeness. |
TOMY Yoda Palm Talker : This strange looking 4" Yoda toy was a Japanese exclusive. It has the characteristic "deformed" look of Japanese cartoon art, plus it speaks several lines in Japanese. An English version was also available. A cool item if you could find it. Made in 1999. |
Tiger Electronics Interactive Yoda : Released on June 14, 2000 and allso know as the Yoda "furby" after the insanely popular toys on which its technology was based. It could sense your movements and spoke with a vocabulary of 450 words. It looks very lifelike, moves well, and was voiced by Frank Oz himself, making it one of the coolest Yoda toys. |
Tic Toc Industries / Pepsi Co. lifesize Yoda replica : This is a very large and impressive Yoda statue which was originally manufactured as a Pepsi promotional item. It resembles the younger Yoda from Episode I. Many of these were raffled out by Kroger's supermarket stores. They were also sold by The Official Star Wars Fan Club sans base. An identical version of the statue also without the gray base was raffled by Blockbuster Video stores in a contest to promote the release of Episode I on video. The plaque in the Blockbuster version says "The Phantom Menace" while others say "Yoda". |
Pizza Hut Yoda's Destiny promo toy : A toy handed out with Pizza Hut kids meals in 1999 during the release of the Phantom Menace. It's like an 8-ball toy. One of the most desirable promotional items of the time. Here's a loose picture. |
Pizza Hut promotional Yoda cup : During the release of Episode I in 1999, whenever you ate at Pizza Hut (or Taco Bell or KFC) you could buy one of four promotional character cups. Pizza Hut had Yoda. I believe in some foreign markets the cup itself featured a character collage instead of a drawing of the characters lower body. |
