This is still unconfirmed, but someone informed me that Yoda appeared this week on Celebrity Deathmatch!!! Anyway, it's something to look forward to.

Interactive Yoda - The problems begin
Less than a month after its release we realize that all is not right with the Yoda furby. If you read the review I wrote up, or if you've owned one for more than a week, you know that the eyelids on these are prone to wear. Well, the complaints are being heard, first on Rebelscum's QnA, now on SWCU's mailing list, and you can be sure retailers are getting an earful. And the explanation's not pretty. Thanks to Sidi for this news:
Well, this is the reason hasbro was holding off on this one. I think they should've still kept it until they got it right, but.... See the rubber used for Yoda really isn't that great, as we can see now. It's too thin, and with continuous play will tear. Sucks big time. I have a proto of lil Yoda that was mint, no tears when i bought him. Well guess what? Not major tears, just small lil ones. I almost expected though. See, Hasbro couldn't get the rubber right. First too thin, then too thick (Yoda had no movement). They went back to thin, but look. Sorry to say it's just a no-win situation. I heard they finally released cause retailers were not happy that it got pushed back so much. Well, we'll se how happy the are to see a line of customers with Yoda furbys to return.
What do I think? The fact is that the tears aren't visible when the eyes are open, plus it really doesn't detract from the playability, but it does suck to see Yoda like that. I would have preferred to wait a bit for a toy that wouldn't wear out so quickly. Let's hope other toy manufacturers and retailers learn a lesson from this. |

Larger than life Yoda!
Yahoo news put up this picture of a huge Yoda placed outside the New York FAO store to advertise the Yoda furby. All I can say is wow!
First Interactive Yoda Review
My pal Sinjin from SWCU not only bought the Interactive Yoda at FAO yesterday, he actually won the Frank Oz autographed one that was being raffled! Some people have all the luck... Anyway, he was nice enough to send me his impressions on the toy, and dispeled some of those ugly "cheap speaker" rumors:
"The sounds are actually pretty good...there are only some flaws to the sound but i give it an 8 out of 10....I really like this toy...I was playing around with it for a while and the sensor mechanism is VERY sensitive and picks up all your moves if you do them correctly...it's REALLY AWESOME!"
Woah! Can't wait to get my hands on this one! Know that while the official release date was yesterday, but that's only at FAO in New York, but expect other stores to receive them in the next few weeks. |
