Authentic Images 24k gold Yoda card : This very attractive piece was made in 1997 and featured Yoda's likeness in 24 karat gold foil. Limited to 1000 cards. Part of the ESB Series II set. |
ATA Boy Inc. magnet : One of several Yoda magnets issued by this company. Measures 2 x 3 " and was made in 1997. |
Chupa Chups Tombola figurine : This one falls into the obscure category. It's a small plastic item that was distributed inside Tombola candy in 1997. Tombola candy is basically a chocolate egg which is sold in Europe and Australia. As you can see, it's a very simple item, but at least it's better than what comes in Cracker Jack boxes. |
3D Arts holographic watch : As far as I know, this was the first holographic Yoda item. It was made in 1991 and retailed at the time for $44.95. If you look at the hologram closely, you'll see it's an image of the vintage Yoda action figure! |
3D Arts holographic lucite paperweight : This very cool item was made in 1993 and carried a suggested retail price of $19.95. As you can see, a detailed three dimensional hologram of Yoda adorned the piece. |
Don Post Studios mask : This mask is a reissue of their original Yoda mask which was first released in 1980. The reissue was first released in 1989, but since it was widely available long after that I believe it deserves a spot in the NeoClassic section. |
Dark Horse ESB Manga Issue 2 - The second of a four part series, this comic featured a spiffy drawing of Yoda on the cover, and also comically retells Luke's first encounters with the Jedi Master on the inside. This is actually a translation of a piece first published in Japan by Media Works. Interestingly, since manga is traditionally read from right to left, all images in the series are reversed for western standards, which results in some funky-looking shots of the Millenium Falcon. |
American Covers Photo Pad : A mouse pad which let you put in your own photo. It included a sample photo of Luke with Yoda, among others. Also released in 1999. |
Applause PVC Yoda figurine : A small 2 inch, nicely detailed figurine. Not hard to find, and perfect for placing on top of a monitor. Made in 1997. |
Applause Spencer's Gifts 14" Yoda plush : Now this is a cool Yoda collectible. About 14 inches from head to toe, this looks more like a caricature of Yoda than any attempt at making him look realistic. It was a Spencer's Gifts exclusive when it was released in 1999 It is currently a hard to find item, but seems to be overlooked. I believe it originally retailed for $25. |
